Notes about Willem Johannes Bernardus Meijer

Hier betreft het een familie uit Batavia en Soerabaia die haar oorsprong vindt in Duitsland (Paderborn, circa 1780) en daarna in Haarlem. In Duitsland heette deze familie nog Plogmeyer.
In 1806 is de Indische stamvader, chirurgijn Johannes Bernardus Meijer (ged. Haarlem 1783) in Batavia aangekomen en uit hem ontstond de Indische tak van deze familie. Hij huwde daar met Henriette van Baar de Jong. Uit doopgegevens van zijn kinderen (o.a. 1815, 1818) blijkt dat ook zijn zuster Maria Wilhelmina Meijer (Haarlem 1778) rond die tijd in Batavia vertoefde, het hoe en waarom is onbekend. Over haar is verder niets bekend. Vrijwel alle nazaten van Johannes Bernardus Meijer zijn beschreven. Er is overigens geen onderzoek verricht naar de achterblijvende familie in Nederland en of die wellicht nog bestaat.
Op 23-11-1822 overleed hij te Batavia; hiernaast zijn overlijdensbericht. Zijn weduwe hertrouwde Batavia 12-6-1823 met Hendrik Lodewijk Rodenbroek Jr. en zij woonden in Batavia te Rijswijk. H.L. Rodenbroek overleed te Batavia op 16-12-1858, 65 jaar oud.
