Became a partner of Reinoud Grippeling, his brother in law, who was married to Marie Verkleij.
"Grippeling en Verkleij", Damrak 74-76 were importers of flour. He practically ran the business.
I believe, that a son of his older brother Cornelis, named Theodorus, who lived in Amsterdam, later took over the flour and grain import business. Jan died of a heart attack.
