Op 10-4-1706 is hij schipper op "De Mevrouw Susanna" van 156 lasten. Inv GA Amsterdam no 5036, no ?. Van 1700-1731 ? is hij commandeur Groenland voor een reder uit Amsterdam. Het kan zijn dat gezien zijn overlijden zijn zoon ook commandeur is geweest. (Vlam).
Mogelijk is Willem Dirksz eerder getrouwd geweest. Uit dit huwelijk zou kunnen zijn voortgekomen: Jantje Willems Leeuw x 17-11-1709 Den Helder met Willem Jacobs Haling (zie ook doop 3-8-1710 Huisduinen van Neeltje "Willem Jacobsz" Metselaar getuige Grietje Dirks Leeuw op Den Helder (zuster van Willem Dirksz Leeuw).
