Loodsexamen gedaan op 28-9-1728, oud 28 jaar. Hij was van 1722-1726, van 1728-1730 en van 1733-1747 commandeur walvisvaart voor reders te Harlingen en Amsterdam. Totale vangst 71 walvissen. Hij was in 1727 commandeur op Straat Davis, idem van 1721-1730, voor een reder in Amsterdam en Harlingen. Hij was ook koopvaarder in de periode van 1750-1761; op de schepen "Hendrina Wiltschut" 100 lasten, "La Jalousie", 85 lasten (1752), "De Vreede", 62 lasten (1760 en 1761). (zie P. Dekker, West Friesland oud en nieuw 1981, blz 155). Op 22-11-1778, 27-6-1784 en op 19-10-1785 tot f 8000,- gegoed.
