Bergh (Jacobus Adrianus de), geb. 6 Juli 1844 te Boxmeer, (opgevoed te Heusden) was eerst ambtenaar bij de Staatsspoorwegen, werd vervolgens klerk en 6 Jan. 1879 adj.-commies bij het Dep. van Financiën, ging in dien rang over bij de kanselarij der Ned. ridderorden, werd in 1884 op verzoek eervol ontslagen en tengevolge van treurige gebeurtenissen dier dagen redacteur der Amsterd. Courant. In 1886 deed hij op bijzondere lastgeving in eene destijds veelbesproken zaak eene opsporingsreis naar Oost-Indië, keerde in '86 in Nederland terug en ontving toen zijn ontslag als hoofd-redacteur der Amst. Cour., woonde daarna weder in Den Haag en overleed er 27 Jan. 1888.

Hij schreef onder het psd. François Colline: Tante Saarkes testament, Noordbrab. Novelle, 1872; Het geheim van Anna; David Rizzio; Verhandel. over de neuzen; Nuts-vergadering ten platten lande; Over spreekwoorden; De laatste ure van een Jacobijn, 1873; Antw. en het XIIIe Ned. Taal- en Letterk. Congr., 's-Grav. 1873; De millioenen-Erfenis of het driemanschap, tooneelsp. Rott., 1876, twee uitg.; De Pauw's Luchtreize, verh. uit den luchtballon van 8 Juli en 6 Aug. 1876 door zijn medereiziger, 1876; Een nachtfeest of een rouwfeest voor de justitie in Den Haag, 1877; Het wapen des Konings en des Rijks, thans gevoerd, is in strijd met de wet, 's-Grav. 1880, twee uitg.; Nieuwjaarswensch van Thomasvaer en Pieternel, uitgespr. in den Haagschen Schouwburg 4 Jan. 1881. Van 1879-'87 verschenen zijn Haagsche Pennekrassen, in 87 nommers.; verder: Pennekrassen uit Den Haag, wekelijks voorkomende in het Indisch vaderland te Samarang. Van 1880-'83 verschenen in De Amsterdammer, Weekblad, wekelijks causerieën onder den titel Uit de Hofstad. Terugblik op 's-Grav. in 1880, 's-Grav. Nog was hij medewerker aan De 20e Eeuw (redactie, Mevr. Quarlès).
