Notes about Cornelis GEERVLIET

Cornelis Jans Geervliet was chirurgijn te 's-Gravendeel tussen 1716 en 1761. Schepen van 's-Gravendeel 1725/27, kerkmeester, ouderling, diaken en armmeester. Uit de verschuldigde rechten bij overlijden bleek hoe de familie Geervliet op de maatschappelijke ladder gestegen was. Hij breide zijn bezit aanmerkelijk uit en wierp zich op als financier.
Cornelis en zijn vrouw vielen in de eerste klasse. Hieruit valt af te leiden dat hun gezamenlijk vermogen meer dan fl. 20.000,- bedroeg. Hiermee behoorden zij tot de rijkste inwoners van 's-Gravendeel. Zijn zoon Johannes volgde hem op in de praktijk.

Cornelis zette de chirurgijnswinkel van zijn vader voort.
