HENDRIKJE VAN BALLEGOOIE OBITUARY


One day before her 51st wedding anniversary, Mrs. Hendrikje (Hennie) Van Ballegooie passed away in McKellar Hospital with her husband at her side. She was born January 11, 1930 in Ruinen, Holland and passed away at 4:45 am on September 16, 2000. Hennie and her husband Pieter Van Ballegooie came to Thunder Bay in 1953. After residing in Murillo and SouthGillies they took up residence at their present family farm in Blake township in 1955. As well as being active in the daily operation of the farm, Hennie was also involved in the United Church Women of Pinegrove and a 4-H leader. Her love of the outdoors was shown through her gardening, camping, travelling, and passion for waterfalls. Hennie is survived by her loving husband, Pieter Leendart, and their children Magda Guise and her children David, Alan and Jason of Thunder Bay, Alice Laine and her children Stephen and Brandon of Cochrane, Alberta, Roger (Jackie)Van Ballegooie and their children Kristen, Caitlin, and Lisa of Thunder Bay, Irene (Craig) Barnacal and their children Candace and Zachary ofOrton Ontario, Bernita (Howard) Jordan and their children Carolyn and Robert of London, Ontario, Brenda (Aldo) Pitton of Mississauga, and Laurie (Randy) Cancino of Ottawa. She is also survived by her brothers andsisters, Rika Nijenmanting, Jacob Strijker, Coba Muis, Jan Strijker, Jannie Lunenborg and Aaldert Strijker, all of Holland. She was predeceased by her parents, Jan and Aaltje Strijker and brother Roelof Strijker.Visitation is to be held on Tuesday, September 19, 2000 at the Westfort Chapel, 420 West Gore Street at James, from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Funeral Services for the late Mrs. Hennie Van Ballegooie will be held on Wednesday, September 20, 2000 at 10:00 am with Rev. Hugh MacDonald of the Pinegrove United Church officiating. Cremation to follow, with inurnment at Sunset Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations to Alzheimer Research or Canadian Diabetes Association would be greatly appreciated.Adonation has been made to the Alzheimer Research Foundation in honour of Mrs. Hennie Van Ballegooie by Everest of Thunder Bay."
