Theo volgt met zijn broer Koos hun vader en moeder op in de touwfabricage. Hun vader was slecht van gezondheid. Uiteindelijk verhuist de zaak naar de Fluwelensingel 95 en wordt de nieuwe naam Spit & van Catz. In 1954 wordt Spit & van Catz overgenomen door Koninklijke Goudsche Machinale Garenspinnerij. Koos gaat niet mee terwijl Theo met zoon Jacques wel daar in dienst treden. Theo zal kort (1958) directeur zijn en gaat met pensioen.

Tevens is Theo vele jaren regent van het St. Jozef Ziekenhuis aan de Graaf Florisweg te Gouda. In eerste instantie als regent van R.K weeshuis aan de Gouwe benoemd door de Bisschop per 05-05-1927; later van het ziekenhuis St. Jozef Paviljoen aan de Graaf Florisweg waar hij zijn 40 jarig regentschap viert. In 1952 wordt Theo onderscheiden met het pauselijk erekruis "Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice" en in 1959 slaat hij de 1e paal van de aanbouw bij het ziekenhuis.

Theo en Pauline verhuizen naar Waddinxveen waar Theo overlijdt in 1989 op 96 jarige leeftijd en Pauline in 1996 op 97-jarige leeftijd.
