Notes about Alida "Aaltje" Spaander

Voordat Aaltje een volledige taak in "Hotel Spaander" vervulde beheerde zij enige tijd Cafe "De Beurs" tegenover de Gemeentelijke Visafslag. Omstreeks 1920 nam zij het beheer van "Hotel Spaander" over van haar vader. Aaltje zou aan K.C. Spaander verteld hebben dat Jan Spaander (een zoon van de broer van haar overgrootvader) uitstekend Frans sprak en haar verteld had dat de Spaanders uit Zuid-Frankrijk komen en wel uit Cannes. Zij waren op een oorlogsschip in Holland gekomen, ongeveer rond 1600.
"Nico"heeft zelf eens gehoord dat de Spaanders van Franse adel zouden zijn, die later bij teruggang van welstand de kaapvaart hadden beoefend. Toen zij het eens benauwd kregen waren ze te Santpoort aan land gegaan en Holland ingetrokken. (Genealogie Spaander)
