Anton Steffens was vanaf 1968 tot 2003 werkzaam bij onze faculteit.
Op het moment van zijn pensionering was hij hoogleraar binnen het Center for Behaviour and Neuroscience (CBN).

Anton Steffens was van 1965 tot 2003 hoofddocent en later als bijzonder hoogleraar leerstoel Endocrinologie aan de RUG. Hij was een pionier in het internationale onderzoek naar de rol van de hersenen en regulatie van de stofwisseling. Daarnaast kenmerkte hij zich als een betrokken en gedreven collega die een uniek gevoel voor humor combineerde met encyclopedische kennis van de politiek, geschiedenis en cultuur. Als mentor heeft Anton Steffens een onuitwisbare indruk op zijn s
tudenten gehad, waarvan velen in het mede door hem gevormde onderzoeksveld werkzaam zijn gebleven en contact met hem zijn blijven houden na zijn pensionering in 2003.
