Notes about George van Blarcum de Graaff

George Auguste de Graaf word in 1906 geboren als kind van George van Blaricum. Hij word vernoemd naar zijn vader George en krijgt ook de naam Auguste. Echter krijgt hij de achternaam van de ex echtgenote van zijn moeder ‘’Cornelia van Reet of Riet, “Johan Eduard de Graaff”. Omdat zowel George als zijn zus Ada voor het huwelijk van hun ouders zijn geboren krijgt George de naam de Graaff mee en Ada de naam van Reet. George Auguste de Graaf was werkzaam voor de firma Getas als planter, ook was hij een vervent auto coureur en nam hij deel aan vele races op Java. Tijdens zijn Militaire diensttijd vraagt hij of hij de naam van Blaricum voor de Graaf mag plaatsen. Hiervoor krijgt hij toestemming. Hij was gedurende de oorlog foto verkenner Vliegenier bij het KNIL. Maar als hij krijgsgevangen word door de Jappen word hij geregistreerd als A. de Graaff. George, die planter was in Bandung word aldaar door de Jappen opgepakt. Hij en zijn gezin komen in de WOII op Java in jappenkampen terecht. Zijn vrouw en 2 kinderen komen in het kamp Adek en George gaat naar een mannenkamp. Omdat er op Java een regenten familie was met de naam de Graaff, dacht hij hiermee een voordeel te hebben. Echter pakte dit voor hem niet goed uit. Ze overleven allemaal de hel van de kampen en worden met de SS Nieuw Amsterdam tussen 1946 & 1949 gerepatrieerd naar Nederland. Op deze reis van Singapore naar South Hampton Engeland, was er de mazelen aanboord uitgebroken. De kinderen waren zo verzwakt dat er 300 kinderen aan overleden. De meesten kregen een zeemansgraf. In Nederland probeerde George in de Noord-oostpolder een kwekerij op te zetten echter heeft hij hiervoor niet de Juiste papieren en ze emigreren naar Brazilië. Alwaar zijn zoon Auguste George van Blarcum de Graaf in 1957 een studie begint voor Experimentele Organische Chemie aan de universiteit van Sao Paulo. In de Jaren 1970-1980 brengen ze nog twee keer een bezoek aan Nederland voor zo wel zakelijk als familiair bezoek. Voor dat ze voor de tweede maal naar Nederland gaan bezoeken ze het graf van Leon Justus Henri Meijer de broer van Louise Annie Mathilda Meijer. Hij ligt begraven op het militaire ereveld Thanbyuzayat in Birma. Ze komen ook op bezoek bij Hendrikus Jacobus Mattheus Meijer & Jacoba Anna Maria Vermorken in Purmerend (Mijn ouders de auteur van deze stamboom). Uit eerste hand weet ik dus dat Louise Annie Mathilde Caroline Meijer tot deze tak van de stamboom Meijer behoord. Na Het overlijden van Louise Annie Mathilde Caroline Meijer in 1998 brengt George Auguste van Blarcum de Graaf nogmaals, op hoge leeftijd, een bezoek aan Nederland en aan Hendrikus Jacobus Mattheus Meijer, die dan in Rijswijk woont. Hij heeft de tripjes naar Nederland nooit aan zijn zoon verteld.
