Notes about George van Blarcum

George werd landheer genoemd in Epe. Liet een boerderij bouwen, en fokte Lakenvelders en enkele kippenrassen. Was voorzitter van de Boerenbond etc. Verkocht een landgoed de Waaijenberg te Epe omstreeks 1906. De heer G. van Blarcum woonde in de Villa genaamd “Wilhelmina”. Dit pand stond op de hoek Hoofdstraat met de Prins Bernhardlaan. Vanaf 1909 tot 1922 heeft dhr G. van Blarcum hier gewoont. Voor de de oprichting van de boerenbond trok hij de buurt in en hield praatavonden. Hij zorgde voor koffie en een pijp tabak op zogenaamde boeren pijpavonden. Dit resulteerde in de in de oprichting van de Boerenbond in Epe, waarvan hij ook voorzitter werd . Later werd de Coöperatie opgericht op 13 juni 1916. Om huize “Wilhelmina” scharrelden veelsierkippen, hier hield de heer van Blarcum zeer van. Door de boeren uit de omgeving werden deze kippen meneerskippen genoemd. In 1922 verhuisde de familie Van Blarcum naar Bussum. George van Blarcum senior (1877) 0verleed eind november 1953 te Blaricum. Een deel van het geld uit de erfenis die George van zijn vader Joannes van Blarcum kreeg belegde hij een in aandelen van de spoorwegen. Hier verloor hij veel geld mee.
