Notes about Tannetje De MAN

Ingeklemd tussen de Oostdijk en het Dreefslop in Middelharnis staat een huisje met een trapgevel, gebouwd aan het eind van de zestiende eeuw. Aan het begin van de twintigste eeuw was hier een van de vele snoepwinkeltjes gevestigd, het winkeltje van Tanna de Man. Bij goed weer had ze een tafel buiten staan met fruit en snoep; de koopwaar kostte een cent per stuk. Het winkeltje heette in de volksmond het winkeltje van Tanna de Man, adres Oostdijk D 220. Misschien was ze al met de winkel begonnen toen haar man nog als schippersknecht werkte. Van Leendert Sprong is bekend dat hij houtjes hakte die hij in bosjes voor een cent verkocht. De mensen maakten daar vroeger de kachel mee aan. Hoe lang Tanna het winkeltje gehad heeft is niet precies bekend. Ze is in 1924 op 82-jarige leeftijd overleden en aangezien haar dochter Pietertje thuis bleef wonen is het aannemelijk dat ze tot het einde van haar leven in dit huisje heeft gewoond en gewerkt. Tannetje maakte in godsdienstig opzicht haar eigen keuze. Zij ging over naar de christelijk gereformeerde gezindte terwijl de andere leden van het gezin hervormd bleven.
