Nel Egelie trad op 21 jarige leeftijd in het klooster van de Ongeschoeide Karmelietessen in Egmond aan den Hoef in. Ze was in Egmond o.a. sub-priorin en koorleidster. Ze verbleef als evacuee in de Karmel van Drachten van 25 november 1942 tot 16 juli 1946. In 1989 moest ze om gezondheidsredenen worden opgenomen in een verpleeghuis . Daar overleed ze op 80 jarige leeftijd. Ze werd begraven op de begraafplaats van de zusters, in de kloostertuin. In 1997 verlieten de zusters hun klooster en verhuisden naar Maastricht om zich bij een groep medezusters te voegen. Enige jaren later werden de stoffelijke resten van de zusters die op het kloosterkerkhof begraven lagen overgebracht naar de begraafplaats Sint Pieter te Maastricht. Ook zuster Paula (Nel Egelie) ligt daar nu begraven.
