De oudst bekende voorvader is Otto Hoynck (overl: 1555) Hij wordt in 1544 te Dordrecht vermeld als koopman van Rijnse wijnen uit Wesel.

13 juni 1652 koopt Cornelis Hoynck wijnhandelaar te Dordrecht de Heerlijkheid van Papendrecht en Matena voor f 40.000,- van zijn oom Adriaan van Muylwijk (broer van zijn moeder Anna van Muylwijk).

Op 13-6-1652 wordt hij Heer van Papendrecht en de familie noemt zich vanaf die tijd Hoynck van Papendrecht. Hij gaat met zijn gezin in het Huis te Papendrecht wonen. Hij liet daar een huiskapel inrichten en heeft een huiskapelaan in dienst.
