Notes about Herbert Montanye Jr.

Herbert Montanye was living with his uncle Sheldon and wife Edna in the Town of Charleston, Montgomery County, New York, in 1910.  He was said to be 12 years old.  This makes it seem more likely that he was indeed the child listed with his mother in 1900 as Herbert Hotaling, age 1.

According to Orville Montayne in a letter, dated 14 May 1980: "My father's uncle Bert was the father of a son and daughter, Herbert and Florence.  Herbert Montanye served in World War I.  He was gassed in France and shell-shocked , but survived."
