ITTERSUM (Robert van) (6) tot Nijenhuis, geb. 30 Mei 1645, overl. 7 Febr. 1705, hegr. te Wijhe, zoon van Ernst, tot Nijenhuis en Leemcule, en van Geertruid van Doornick.
Hij was gecommitteerde ten landdage van

Overijsel in 1669, commandeur der Duitsche Orde te Tiel, was in 1681 dijkgraaf van Salland. Hij werd in Febr. 1690 tot kolonel der cavalerie benoemd en maakte als zoodanig den veldtocht in Ierland mede. Hij ontving al spoedig een lichte kwetsuur, die hem het oorlogstooneel deed verlaten. 20 Maart 1691 werd bij bevorderd tot luitenant-generaal. In 1691 komt hij voor als drost van Twenthe en in 1692 als drost van Salland, doch was in 1694 weer in militairen dienst. Hij overleed kinderloos als laatste van zijn tak in 1705.
Hij was eerst in 1669 gehuwd met Joachima van Rechteren tot Rechteren, geb. in 1648, overl. in 1674, dochter van Joachim Adolf, heer van Rechteren, en van Margaretha van Haersolte. Daarna hertrouwde hij (huw. voorw. van 20 Oct. 1676) met Eleonora Sophia Bentinck, ged. te Zwolle 17 Dec. 1644, overl. ald. 3 Oct. 1710, dochter van Bernt, heer van Diepenheim, en van Anna van Bloemendael. Door dit huwelijk werd Robert de zwager van den 1en graaf van Portland.
Zijn portretten door I. de Moucheron en een onbekend kunstenaar waren bij A.M.K.W. baron van Ittersum te 's Gravenhage.
