Notes about Nicholas de Vaux Baron ; of Harrowden

NICHOLAS VAUX, Knt., of Harrowden, co. Northampton, Sheriff of Northamptonshire, Lieutenant of Rockingham Forest, Lieutenant of Guines, son of William Vaux, Esq., of Harrowden, co. Northampton (of Magna Carta Surety descent), by Katherine, daughter of George Peniston, of Coverto Praniote, in the Piedmont, Italy.  He was born about 1460, and grew up in poverty after the attainder of his father. The attainder was reversed on the accession of King Henry WI in 1485, and the forfeited lands restored.  They had three daughters.

Elizabeth FITZ HUGH was living in 1501 and died before 29 Jan. 1507/8.  Nicholas Vaux was married for the second time about 1508 to Anne Greene, daughter and co-heiress of Thomas Greene, Knt., of Boughton and Norton.  She was born in 1490.  They had two sons and three daughters. She predeceased her husband.  He was created Lord Vaux of Harrowden, in 1523.  "Nicholas Vaus, lord Harowdon, of Harowdon, Northants" died testate (P.C.C., 11 Bodfelde) on 14 May 1523.  Banks (1844), p. 442.
