SAHUL VAN ALVERINGEN.

Apres la mort de son frere, Samuel Van Alveringen , e"coutete de
Malines, en 1579 ou 1585, devint seigneur de llofwegen. II eut,
en 1579, de grands de"sagrements a Malines et a Anvers, par suite
de son denouement a la cause de la liberte" (1). Van Alveringen avail
Spouse Marie Vander Aa, et il en eut plusieurs enfants. II se retira
probablement en Hollande, car, en 1615, on trouve un Van Alve-
ringen, sans doute un de ses lils, etabli a Axel. Le nom de celui-ci
paratt a 1'occasion de la naissance d'une fille, Louise-Jacqueline
Van Alveringen, baptised a Axel, en presence de messire Libert des
Fresnes, bailli de Flessingue (2) v messire Jean Van Reigersberg,
chevalier, maltre des rentes de Zelande, et Louise Vander Noot (5).
