Omstreeks (of voor) 1700 omdat eerste huwelijk in 1717 plaatsvindt.
In doopboek Nieuwleusen geen Engbert met vader Jan gevonden omstreeks 1700
wel (enige dat past): 10-1-1697 Egbert zv Jan Janzen en Ida Asjes (uit Hessum of Itessum?). Er is echter geen Ida vernoemd.
Ouders Jan Hendriks en Geertien Cornelis passen wel als gekeken wordt naar vernoeming. Engbert is dan echter ca 16 jaar bij zijn eerste huwelijk.

Ouderling geweest te Nieuwleusen van 1730-1734; verhuist na 1743 naar IJhorst
Hasselt 1757-1758: Engbert Jans te IJhorst aanlegger ca Harmen Willems te Rouveen gedaagde. Eisch tot betaling eener geldsom door gedaagde verschuldigd als erfgenaam van Hendrik Harms.
7 April 1772 Engbert Jans is overleden. De kinderen van hem en de nog levende moeder Aaltje Hendriks zijn Jan, Aaltje en Janna. deze Jan Engberts maakt een afkoopregeling met zijn volle zusters: zij krijgen elk 100 gulden. De overige kinderen van Engbert Jans (Aaltje (getrouwd met Evert Harms), Jan, Berend, Rikkelt en Cornelis) verklaren dat de nalatenschap van vader en moeder volledig is voldaan.
