Evert van Oorspronk is in april 1865 overleden. De molenpacht zal toen wel zijn overgegaan aan Jan Willem Schut, die met Everts dochter Johanna was getrouwd. In december 1869 vroeg Schut vergunning tot het plaatsen van een stoomwerktuig. Op 11 januari 1870 werd toestemming verleend tot het opstellen van een 6-pk stoomketel en de bouw van een 15m hoge schoorsteen. De door baron van Wijnbergen ingebrachte bezwaren werden niet door Gedeputeerde Staten erkend. Op 14 april 1870 werd voor notaris Voorthuysen in Beekbergen, de opstand van de woning met papierfabriek, twee pakhuizen en een hangschuur, de ter Hoevens Molen genoemd, behalve de in de fabriek aanwezige wals- of pletmachine, aan mr Casper Fl. Ign. Baron Hackfort van ter Horst voor f 3500 verkocht. Opstand, grond en water van de molen werden nu van baron van Wijnbergen, schoonzoon en erfgenaam van baron Hackfort, voor twaalf jaar gepacht tegen f 215 per half jaar, ingaande 1 mei 1870. In 1882 werd de pachttermijn niet verlengd. Jan Willem Schut vertrok naar de grote Slatsmolen (no 114). Op de Strobroekse molen kwam nu Anthony van Oorspronk, zwager van Jan Willem Schut, geboren in 1845.

In mei 1882 werd de grote Slatsmolen echter verpacht aan Jan Willem Schut. Hendrik Hilbrinks en zijn zusters zijn toen bij broer Jan op de kleine Slatsmolen ingetrokken.
Jan Willem Schut, geboren 13 maart 1831, was pachter geweest van de Strobroekse molen (no 117) vanaf 1870. Hij was in 1863 gehuwd met Johanna van Oorspronk (1841-1893), dochter van de vorige pachter op de Strobroeksemolen, Evert van Oorspronk en Hendrika Klomp. Schut stierf op 7 november 1887. Uit zijn huwelijk werden drie zoons geboren: Andries (1871-1914), Paul Jan (1876-1935) en Hendrik Abraham (1868-1937).
De papiermolen de Grote Slas werd na de dood van Jan Willem Schut in 1887 voortgezet door de weduwe onder de naam Wed. J.W.Schut. De molen brandde in 1888 af, maar werd weer opgebouwd. Na de dood van de weduwe Schut in 1893 vertrok de zoon Hendrik Abraham naar de Bovenste Molen (no 116). Zijn twee broers zetten het bedrijf op de Grote Slas voort.

Hendrik Abram Schut overleed in februari 1864, zijn vrouw in december 1887.
Na de dood van H.A. Schut werd de zaak voortgezet door de zoons Paul Jan (geboren 1830, getrouwd met Cornelia Maria Eekhof) en Jan Willem Schut (geboren 1834, gehuwd met Johanna van Oorspronk). Een derde zoon, Johannes Schut, was geen papiermaker, maar ‘horologiemaker’; een dochter Anna is begin 1865 overleden. Jan Willem Schut had vanaf circa 1865 de Stroobroeksemolen (no 117) in pacht en vertrok in 1882 naar de grote Slatsmolen (no114). De Achterste Molens werden dus geheel beheerd door Paul Jan Schut.

De kleine Slatsmolen werd verpacht aan Jan Limpers Hilbrink en werd toen vaak als het Limpers molentje aangeduid. Jan Limpers was vrijgezel en werkte samen met zijn broer Hendrik en zijn twee zusters, die na de verpachting van de grote Slatsmolen aan Jan Willem Schut in 1882 op de Kleine Molen kwamen wonen.
