    Schut stierf op 7 november 1887. Uit zijn huwelijk werden drie zoons geboren: Andries (1871-1914), Paul Jan (1876-1935) en Hendrik Abraham (1868-1937). De papiermolen de Grote Slas werd na de dood van Jan Willem Schut in 1887 voortgezet door de weduwe onder de naam Wed. J.W.Schut. De molen brandde in 1888 af, maar werd weer opgebouwd. Na de dood van de weduwe Schut in 1893 vertrok de zoon Hendrik Abraham naar de Bovenste Molen (no 116). Zijn twee broers zetten het bedrijf op de Grote Slas voort.

    Toen kwam in 1894 van de grote Slatsmolen (no 114) de papiermaker Hendrik Abraham Schut, zoon van Jan Willem Schut. Hij vestigde zich in de tweede Bovenste Molen; de eerste Bovenste Molen werd waarschijnlijk reeds toen stilgelegd. Schut installeerde in 1898 inde Bovenste Molen een stoommachine en stoomketel van 8-pk. In 1900 of 1901 zijn de beide Bovenste Molens afgebrand; alleen de molen aan de oostzijde van de beek werd weer opgebouwd en nu als machinale fabriek ingericht. Met één papiermachine werd jaarlijks 380.000 kg papier vervaardigd.
    In 1907 ging Hendrik Abraham Schut naar de Achterste Molen (no 120), waar hij samen met Gerrit Jan Berends de firma Schut en Berends oprichtte. Van de grote Slatsmolen (no 114) kwamen nu zijn broers Andries en Paul Jan Schut naar de Bovenste Molen; de Slatsmolen werd toen tot korenmolen verbouwd.

    Onder no 116 is beschreven, hoe de Bovenste Molen II een machinale papierfabriek tot stand kwam onder directie van Paul Jan Schut J.W.zn, wiens broer Andries in 1914 was overleden. Het bedrijf voerde de firmanaam Wed. J.W.Schut. Financieel gesterkt door de winstgevende jaren van de eerste wereldoorlog, kon in 1921 een nieuw-gebouwde, moderne fabriek worden betrokken aan het Apeldoorn-Dierense kanaal. De fabriek was uitgerust met een 200 cm brede rondzeefmachine voor de kartonfabricage, waarop een dagproduktie van tien ton kon worden bereikt. Op 1 april 1921 werd voor notaris Jhr Feith te Beekbergen de NV Cartonfabriek v/h Wed. J.W.Schut opgericht. De firmanten waren Paul Jan Schut van de vroegere Bovenste molen, zijn broer Hendrik Abraham Schut en deins compagnon Gerrit Jan Berends, die ter firma Schut & Berends in de eerste Achterste molen een papier- en golfkartonfabriek exploiteerden (no 120). Van het kapitaal van f 700.000 werd f 500.000 geplaatst bij de oprichters, deels door inbreng, deels in contanten. Die inbreng bestond uit het bedrijf en de goederen van Paul Jan Schut, die op bijna f 246 mille werden gewaardeerd. In contanten droeg Paul Jan
    Schut ruim f 54 mille bij, de beide andere heren ieder f 100 mille.
    De snel in belang toenemende onderneming verloor in 1935 eerst zijn directeur Paul Jan Schut, dan in 1937 ook de firmant Hendrik Abraham Schut. Tot directeuren de NV v/h Wed. J.W.Schut werden toen benoemd de heren Johannes Schut en Jan Willem Schut, laatstgenoemde geboren in 1901 en thans voorzitter van onze ‘Stichting Papiergeschiedenis’.
