Huibert Antonie heeft, na een onvoltooide onderwijzersopleiding te hebben genoten, eerst enige tijd in vaders drukkerij gewerkt om vervolgens zijn geluk te gaan beproeven als reproduktiefoto- graaf. Van daaruit voortwerkend is hij later leraar in de fotografie geworden aan de Grafische school te Utrecht.
