Notes about Thomas de WITT

Thomas de WITT, geboortejaar onbekend; gest. te Amsterdam (?) 18 Jan. 1645; tweede zoon van Nicolaas de Witt en Michaëlia van Loon. Hij had eenig aandeel aan de regeering van Dordrecht. Sedert 1627 lid van de veertigen; in 1629 lid van de achten; in 1630, 1631, 1637 en 1638 schepen; in 1638 burgemeester van 's heeren wegen; in 1642, 1643 gecommitteerde ten beleide. Bovendien was hij van 1637-1645 bewindhebber van de Oost-Indische Compagnie, kamer van Amsterdam, namens de stad zijner inwoning. Hij was gehuwd met Jacomina Thibauts, bij wie hij 4 kinderen kreeg, die verder zonder belang zijn.
