‘De troepen die zich hier in de duinstreek hebben verschanst zullen erop met geweld uit geslagen moeten worden. Het ligt in voornemen van de moffen, dat blijkt uit alles, hier nog zo veel mogelijk kapot te maken, hier nog zo veel mogelijk onheil te stichten. Polders laten ze onderlopen. Waar ze zich terugtrekken worden alle utiliteitswerken zoals gas, water en elektriciteit voorzienigen en riolering ondermijnd en opgeblazen. Alle bruggen worden vernietigd. De wraakgevoelens tegen de geallieerden willen ze op ons weerlozen koelen. Hoelang zullen we nog al die gruwelen moeten aanzien, al die smaden verdragen. De bevolking vooral die van grote steden teert nog weg van de honger. De bezetters doen zich nog te goed aan beste wat hier maar te vinden is.
De strijdlust is zo diepgeworteld ze zullen de wapens er niet bij neerleggen. Voor de duizenden mensen die gedwongen zijn zich binnenhuis te houden, is het heerlijk weer en het ontblotende groen tartend.’
