Notes about Agnes van Bourgondië

Agnes van Bourgondië (1407 - 1 december 1476 ) was een dochter van hertog Jan zonder Vrees en van Margaretha van Beieren. Zij was een jongere zuster van Filips de Goede.

Zij huwde op 17 september 1425 met Karel I van Bourbon met wie ze elf kinderen kreeg:

Karel II (1434-1488)
Isabella (1436-1465) in 1454 gehuwd met hertog Karel de Stoute van Bourgondië (1433-1477)
Lodewijk (1438-1482), prins-bisschop van Luik
Peter van Beaujeu (1438-1503)
Margaretha (1438-1483), in 1472 gehuwd met Filips II van Savoye (1438-1497)
Catharina (1440-1469), in 1463 gehuwd met Adolf van Egmont (1438-1477)
Johanna (1442-1493), vrouwe van Chinon-Château, in 1465 gehuwd met Jan IV van Chalon-Arlay, prins van Oranje (1444-1502)
Jacob (1445-1468).
Als jongere zus van Filips de Goede. probeerde ze de huizen van Bourbon en Bourgondië dichter bij elkaar te brengen, onder meer door de huwelijken van haar kinderen. Haar dochter Isabelle trouwde in 1454 met Karel de Stoute. Haar zoon Lodewijk werd in 1456 prins-bisschop van het prinsbisdom Luik dat ook in de interessesfeer van haar broer lag.

Na de dood van haar man in 1456 bezocht ze met haar dochters Cathérine en Jeanne haar zieke broer. Ze verbleef meestal in Hesdin, maar bezocht ook St. Pol, Rijsel, Brugge, Brussel en Antwerpen. De kroniekschrijver Jacques du Clerq meldde dat ze nooit meer zou terugkeren naar het land van Bourbon.

In 1464 schonk Filips de Goede haar de heerlijkheid van Rochefort in Bourgondië. Filips regelde huwelijken voor haar dochters die pasten in zijn huwelijkspolitiek. In 1463 trad Catharina (1440-1469) in Doornik in het huwelijk met Adolf van Egmont. Johanna (1442-1493) huwde in 1465 met Jean II de Chalon, prins van Oranje (1444-1502).

In 1465 keerde Agnes terug naar de Bourbonnais waar ze bleef tot haar dood in 1476.
