Notes about Neeltje Mol

1. Geboren in de Bussummerstraat 210 in Naarden (NH).
1. Born in Bussummerstreet no. 210 in Naarden (NH) - Netherlands.

Geurt, Aart, Fijtjen. Sirup, sirup, sirup!!! --

2. She was scared for only one thing, namely thunderstorms! If she awoke at night she got up, took a (prepared) bag from a cupboard and sat down on the upper step of the stairs waiting till everything was quiet again in the sky (while her children normally were fast asleep)! During the day the children had to stay away from the windows, while the scissors were put away from the window-sill "because metals had a force of attraction to thunder" she explained then. As a child she witnessed a flash of lightning struck her parental home and set the house partly on fire!
At loud strikes she repeatedly said the same awkward lines, that we as kids didn't understand then and we hardly do now as grown-ups! After so many years I still remember a few of these lines:
-- War at sea ! War at sea!! Geurt, Aart, Fijtjen. Sirup, sirup, sirup !!! --

3. After a hard and less joyful but diligent life she suddenly died at an age of 58. Not owing to heart complaints of which she sometimes suffered for about 10 years, but struck by a (lung) emboly. In hospital where she was taken to for healing of a double sided pneumonia things were approving again. She proudly told us on our (last) visit that within a couple of days she was allowed to go home again!! She nearly reached " a relaxing old day - period ", but alas, things suddenly went otherwise!! Finally she found the rest she longed for such a long time!
