Notes about Julia Catherine Hannigan

JULIA CATHERINE BLANK Feb. 6, 2007. Julia was born Jan. 15, 1922 in Hawkeye, ND to Frank Hannigan and Margaret Murphy, and grew up in Crosbey, ND. While working for the Air Force in 1942 at Fort George Wright Training Center in Spokane, WA, she met her husband, Alford Blank. They were married in 1943 in Great Falls, MT. Julia and Alford moved to Vancouver, WA, with two children, in 1947. She worked in an administrative capacity for the Vancouver School District for several years, and then at Bonneville Power Administration in Vancouver, retiring in 1979. While working at BPA she met her close and dear friend, Jo Whitaker, who was like a sister to her. Julia was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She enjoyed family, traveling, camping, gardening, and church activities. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alford, as well as her parents, and her siblings: sisters, Rosalia, Frances, Evelyn, Daniel and Dorothy. She is survived by her siblings, Mike, Ed, Margaret, Irene, and Viola, all of the Portland, OR area; her children, Diane Blank of Brush Prairie, WA, Larry Blank of Eugene, OR, Jeffrey Blank of Vancouver, and Rita Gallup of Vancouver; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Services will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Monday, Feb. 12, 2007. Mass starts at 11:30am, with a reception after, followed by a graveside service at Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
