Notes about Peder Jensen Winther

Han tog studentereksamen 1670 fra Århus Kathedralskole samt 1672 teologisk embedseksamen fra København Universitet. I 1673 blev han kapellan for sognepræsten i Føns og Orslev sogne, hr. Poulsen Rosenvinge, men da denne egentlig ikke behøvede hans hjælp, rejste han sydpå og studerede en tid ved universiteterne i Rostock samt Kiel. I 1675 fik han imidlertid besked på at vende tilbage, og den 10 november 1675 indfandt han sig påny i præstegården i Føna, få timer efter sognepræsten døde, og han selv skulle overtage dennes embede. Den 26 november blev han ordineret som sognepræst, og han virkede som sådan til sin død samtidig med, at han var provst i Vends Herred.
Efter Peder Jensen Winthers død blev der i overværelse af 3 præster og 2 af sognets bønder som vurderingsmænd holdt skifte mellem enken og børnene Rasmus, Mette Cathrine, Christian Henrik og Laurids. Værge for enken var hendes broder professor Laurids Luja, medens sønnen Rasmus var værge for sin søster Mette Cathrine. Af skiftet fremgår iøvrigt kun, at præstegården vurderedes til 325 slettedaler.
I den Wintherske slægtsbog skrevet af Peder Jensen Winthers søn Rasmus, skildrer denne sin far således: Han b¸r på det alle rærbødigste hædres i mit hjerte, fordi han ikke alene var min fader, men en hæderværdig fader, at alle har de som har kendt ham har sagt til mig: Du er en ærlig og god mands søn.
