JOHN MURE OF ROWALLAN

John Mure of Rowallan is the son of John Mure of Rowallan and his wife Elizabeth Stewart. According to Sir William Mure of Rowallan's Historie: "Johne the Son of Johne & oye to Robert succeided." Historie, p. 74
Death

John Mure of Rowallan was killed in battle on 9 September 1513. Sir William Mure of Rowallan said this of him: "This Johne was ane very worthie man & died in flowdone field wt king James the fourth.....the yeare of our Lord 1513." Historie, p. 79
Marriage

John Mure of Rowallan married Margaret Boyd. The date of the marriage is not known but she was his wife on 29 December 1498-99. Register of the Great Seal of Scotland, A.D. 1424-1513, charter number 2472 on p. 526 Sir William Mure of Rowallan said this in his Historie: "He begat vpon her Mongo Mure who succeided, Alexr Mure of Ormshugh, Patrick & Adame. And daughteris the lady new-wark, secondly married to the laird of Barr, thirdlie vpon the gudman of Baldoone, ane other maried vpon the laird of Barr younger, The youngest vpon the laird of Sorbie in Galloway."
