Ene Jan Hendrik/Joannes Henricus Uffink trouwt Aleijda wamelink in 13-9-1766/2-10-1766 te Aalten, dichtbij Bocholt. Hij wordt als "uit bocholt" vermeld. Geen verdere vermelding gevonden van uffing+wamelink. Ook geen dood van Wamelink rond deze tijd.

Ik heb ernstige twijfels over de ouders van Joan Hendrik Uffing, omdat hij dan al op 14 jarige leeftijd moet zijn getrouwd. In 1715 wordt een Joannes Henricus Uffing gedoopt in Rhede, met ouders Bernd Uffing en Elschen/Elisabeth.
In mijn familie werd er van uitgegaan dat de naam Uffing verwijst naar het plaatsje Uffing am Staffelsee in Beieren. Echter, het is aannemelijker dat het verwijst naar een landgoed/hof Uffekynch, dat in 1364 begon in Barlo, net boven Aalten. De naam Uffing/Ueffing/Uffink/Uffinck komt vooral voor rondom de plaatsen Aalten/Bochom/Rhede, in alle eeuwen sinds 1600.
In mijn familie werd er altijd van uitgegaan dat de naam Uffing verwijst naar het plaatsje "Uffing am Staffelsee" in Beieren, bijna 700km van waar ik geboren ben. Echter, met behulp van leden van genealogieonline.nl kwam ik er achter dat het aannemelijker is dat het verwijst naar het landgoed/hof Uffekynch (Uffing), dat in 1364 ontstond in Barlo (boven Aalten in de Achterhoek), 40km van mijn geboorteplaats. Vanaf 1651 komt de naam Uffinck al voor in Aalten (voor deze tijd is er geen informatie), en soms in de vorm van "Op Uffinck", waarbij de "Op" verwijst naar een landgoed of boerderij.

De naam Uffekynch/Uffing zelf zou weer verwijzen naar een patroniem van de naam Uffo/Uffiko/Ulfried. Dus vermoedelijk is een zoon van ene Uffiko in 1364 een landgoed gestart in Barlo.

De namen Uffink en Uffing komen ongeveer even vaak voor in de geschiedenis. Maar Uffink is meer geconcentreerd rondom Aalten, terwijl de naam Uffing weer meer geconcentreert is rond Bocholt. Er is een beetje spreiding, maar de Uffin*s concentreren zich toch echt vooral rondom dit grensgebied, in een kleine Noord-Zuid strook in de grensstreek tussen Rhede in het oosten in Duitsland en Westervoort in het westen in Nederland
