Johannes was gehuwd met een lid van het gezin, maar er was geen biologische broer - zuster relatie. Hij was een kind uit het eerste huwelijk van Jacobus Johanneszn Taal met Aaltje de Boer. Johannes trouwde, 22 jaar oud, op 04-06-1908 in Den Helder met Grietje Jans Post, 19 jaar oud. Zij was een dochter van Aaltjen Pasterkamp uit haar eerste huwelijk. Grietje is geboren op 19-01-1889 op Urk, dochter van Jan Maartensz Post en Aaltjen Willems Pasterkamp. Van de geboorte werd twee dagen later aangifte gedaan op 21-01-1889. Grietje is overleden op 28-10-1962 in Zaandam, 73 jaar oud.
