Een passage uit het overlijdensregister luidt; "Den 22 dito 1719 begraven, de huijsvrouw van Jacob de Maet in de kerke genaamd Janneke Jansen laat na 3 bovenjarige wees. geluijd 4 poosen · 1.4.- "Evenals zijn vader was hij wagenmaker op Rapenburg, doch tevens was hij landman. Behalve een huis met wagenmakerij en alle toebehoren, bezaten ze ook een huis met schuur en grond in Ser Pauluspolder. Deze boerderij is aangekocht van de erfgenamen van Francies de Bie voor een som van 458 ponden Vlaams, 6 schellingen en 8 grooten. Andere bezittingen waren de vruchten te velde, gedorsen en ongedorsen granen, werkpaarden, rundvee, varkens, kippen en landbouwgereedschap. Behalve bezittingen waren er echter ook schulden. Zo zijn er aanzienlijke leningen aangegaan voor de aankoop van de boerderij. Er waren drie erfgenamen, namelijk Anna de Maet, gehuwd met Leendert Willemse, Jan de Maet en Adriaen de Maet. Later zal blijken, dat Jan het beroep van wagenmaker uitoefende en Adriaen dat van landman. Behalve als voogd bij boedelinventarissen, komt Jacob de Maet ook vele malen voor als doopheffer (peter) in doopakten. Ook was hij lid van de Compagnie Burgerij. Op de lijst van 22 december 1696 en ook op die van -monsterbare mannen inde polder van Stoppeldijk- van 11 maart 1701 wordt hij bij de gewone manschappen genoemd. Jacobus was ook lid van het handbooggilde van Sint Sebastiaan te Lamswaarde. Hij werd als lid afgevoerd in 1750 daar hij was komen te overlijden.
