Charl Prieur(Carel) het ook later as chirurg geprakriseer. Sy vrou Cecilia van Marseveen word ook soms as Cecilia Marcevene geskryf. Volgens die boek Hugenote aan die Kaap, 1688 - 1988 deur Prof. Pieter Coerzen is die veskillende skyfwyse van name en vanne toe te skryf aan die feit datdie uitsprask van die Hugenote vir die VOC amptenare nie altyd verstaanbaar was nie, en hulle dus baie keer verkeerdelik gespel het.

 

In Frans word die "s" bv. geensins in die middelof einde van 'n woord ge-uiter nie, wat baie van die verwarring kon veroorsaak.

Aantekeninge van die huwelik van Charles du Plessis, jongman en Cecilia van Marseveen van Cabo jongedogter van die dokument VC639 p 7 Kaapse Argiefbewaarplek beskryf. Die dokument is op 12 Junie 1712 gemaak.

 

Die inhoud van die testament word ook verskaf. Dit is gemaak op 8 Julie 1736 en aan die Weeskamer aan die Kaap ingelewer op 22 Okt. 1736.

On 5th Januar5% at Drakenstein, his widow married Wynand Louw, bachelor, surgeon in the Hospital. Charles du Plessis was probably apprenticed to his father, as we find him practismg as a surgeon.
