Arie (ook Arij of Ary) Lekkerwyn (ook Lekkerwijn. Leckerwyn of Leckerwijn) se naam verskyn vir die eerste keer in die opgaafrolle [1] aan die Kaap in 1686. In 1692 verskyn sy naam as Arij Dirksz Lekkerwijn [2] saam met sy vrou Maria Lanoy (of Marie de Lanoy v.Aulis in Frankryk [3]) en een kind. Hulle is dus ongeveer in 1690 getroud., maar hul huweliksinskrywing is nog nie opgespoor nie.

Arie jnr. se tragedie was: Hy was ook ongeletterd volgens die “merk van Adriaan Lekkerewijn” in 1732, saam met ander vooraanstaande burgers, as vrywilliger on die Stellenbosse begraafplaas netjies te hou [18]. Hy verkry ‘n weilisensies [19] en maak waarskynlik so kennis met die Theunis van Schalkwyk, sy vrou Maria Slabbert.en hul kinders Dirk, Gerrit, Gysbert, Huibrecht en Catrijn in die Swartland [19].In ‘n testament van 28.7.1764 [21] (sy broerskind, Adriaan (b4c1), is waarskynlik toe al oorlede omdat daar geen melding van hulle is nie) bemaak hy omtrent al sy besittings aan die hierdie gesin omdat hulle beloof het om hom vir die res van sy lewe op te pas. Iets moet verkeerd geloop het want op 29.6.1765, enkele dae voor sy dood stel hy ‘n nuwe testament op waarin hy uitdruklik meld dat hy “geene ouders nog kinderen in’t leven” het nie en benoem sy stiefsuster Margaretha Hatting (b2) en haar man Johannes Groenewald (b2) as enigste erfgename [22].
