Ds Arnoldus M J en sy vrou Helena Hester Dreyer op Worcester was die ouers van die baie bekende predikant Arnoldus Gerhardus Marthinus KUYS (geb 1 Julie 1829 Kaapstad) van Napier (1852-1863) en later George (1863-1877). Hierdie Arnoldus Kuys was ‘n groot vriend van die eerste DOWLING (voorsaat van Elizabeth Rhoda LE ROUX nee DOWLING) wat na SA uitgekom het (Nepgen 1947). Volgens familie-oorlewering het die twee oorspronklik in Nederland ontmoet waar Arnoldus studeer het en waarheen George Roach Dowling gegaan het om Nederlands te leer in voorbereiding op sy tog na die Kaap.
