A Quaker couple must stand up before the church meeting and declare theirintention to wed. Henry Ballinger so declared his intention to marryMary Harding before the Quaker Meeting in the village of Nailsworth, inGloucestershire, England, before the migration to America.
That Henry had earned for himself a reputation for industry and integrityis proved by the fact that he was elected to the Assembly in 1697, and inMay 1701 he was appointed special tax collector for his home town ofEvesham.
