Notes about Margaret Corbin

Rev. Harvey M. Lawson, Ph.B., B.D., "History and Genealogy of the Descendants of Clement Corbin of Muddy River (Brookline) Mass. and Woodstock, Conn.", 1905, p. 28 #7
Margaret CORBIN (Clement), "b. *Mar 16, 1673; m. Matthew Davis Feb 23 (or 27), 1690-1, at Woodstock. He was the son of William and Alice (Thorpe) Davis, and was b. in Roxbury, Mass., and baptized there June 24, 1664. He was one of the thirteen men sent out from Roxbury through the wilderness "to spy out the land" for the settlement which is now Woodstock, Conn. He was one of the first settlers and afterwards surveyor, constable, and Selectman (one of a board of officials elected in towns of all New England states except Rhode Island to serve as the chief administrative authority) . In the later period of his life he removed to Pomfret, Conn., and d. there Feb 4, 1729."

*Eliot also records the death of a Margaret CORBIN "Moneth 7 day 24, 1675," which would be Sep 24, 1675; hence it seems that there was another child, Margaret, who died young and from whom the other Margaret, born the following March, was named.)
