ROYAL CORBIN (John, John, Jabez, Clement), "b. Jun 12, 1766; Lucretia Matilda Crafts, dau. of col. Ebenezer and Mehitable (Chandler) Crafts of Crafsbury, Vt., July 2, 1797. She was b. June 14, 1771, at Sturbridge, Mass.; and d. April 12, 1848.

"Col. Ebenezer Crafts was b. at Pomfret, Windham County, Connecticut, September 23, 1740; graduated from Yale in 1759; m. Mehitable Chandler (William, John, John, William. who d. Sep 27 1812 (See Chandler Genealogy.) He kept a hotel in Sturbridge, Mass. In the Revolution he was captain of a company of cavalry from Sturbridge, Charlton, and Dudley, in the campaign around Boston; afterwards he was colonel of a regiment, and helped to suppress Shay's Rebellion, 1786-7. He founded the academy at Leicester, Mass. In 1788 he settled a town in Vermont, which was named Craftsbury after him, and of which he was the patriarch. He received the degree of M.A. from Harvard in1786. He d. May 24, 1810. One of his sons Samuel Chandler Crafts, became governor of Vermont and a representative and senator in Congress."

Royal CORBIN was at first a Merchant at Atburgh, Vermont, but after 1797 was a farmer at Craftsbury. He was a Justice of the Peace for many years, a member of the state legislature for several terms, and judge of probate for the county of Orleans. He was a member and supporter of the Congregational Church. He d. July 4, 1851, at Troy, New York, of paralysis, while on a visit to his son."

OBITUARY
Hon. Royal CORBIN was a son of Abigail Cabot and Capt. John CORBIN. His sisters were: Charity and Martha.

Royal was at first a merchant in Alburgh, Vermont, but after 1797 he was a farmer in Craftsbury, VT. He married Lucretia Matilda Crafts on July 2, 1797. They had 4 children: Royal Crafts (who only lived 2 1/2 years), Pliny Moore (named after his sister Martha's husband, and Martha named one of her children after Royal), William Crafts, Laura Matilda and Charles Chandler, who died at 6 months old and probably buried with his parents.

Royal was for many years a justice of the peace, a member of the State legislature for several years successively and judge of probate for the county of Orleans, VT.

His wife predeceased him by less than 2 years. He died while visiting his son in Troy, NY, of paralysis.

He was a member of the Congregational Church.
