    1708 Den 23 novemb des avonts om vijf uijren heeft het de albestierende god behaagt mijn seer dierbaare, waarde en hoogst gelijfde Echtgenoot Catharina Seller, na dat se nu ommtrent 20 jaaren lang met een een seer droevig fistell oft lijver geseijt cancarens accident op haar voorhooft, onder seer veel pijne ende smerte omgesleept, 40 jaaren en vier weken met mij in Echtschap geleeft en nu sedert den 26 julij het 63 jaar bereijkt en in elf dagen geen afgang van water gehadt hadde, seer Christelijk en Godtsalig, in den Heere ontslapen als ik tuschen beijden seer droevig was en 'telkens om haare herstellinge bad, bestraftese mij daar in seggende datse zoo menigmaal hadde gevreest dat God de Heere wegen het booven glte accident door soo een langsame en pijnlijke dood uijt deese werelt soude halen, en dat oovermits sij nu ter contraine bevondt, dat haar God de Heere op soo een sachte manniere, sonder eenige bijzondere pijne, en onder het volkoomen gebruijk vanhaar verstand, guam te behandelen, men veele meer oorzake hadde om deswegen den Heere met haar te danken, en sulx te meer noch om datse daardoor van soo veel pijne en ellende soude worden verlost........(Ecal 3017, 229).
