    1694. Den 16 Octob is deesen onsen waarden Schoonzoon, na dat men omtrent 3 weken na sijnen trouwdag door bloetspouinge een aanvang van teeringe bespeurde, ende nu 9 weken tot Munster onder de cure van den beroemden Doctor Schutte gelegen hadde, aldaar ooverleeden.
    Den 19 hier binnen Bredevoort gebracht ende Den 22 aldaar in de Kerk begraven, zijnde hij geweest Fiscal deeser heerlijkheijt ende een man van soo veele hoope, studie en geleerdhijt, dat men deswegen niet alleene hier in het ampt, maar ook selve bij de Heeren van het hof van Gelderlandt en veel andere voornaame sijn ooverlijden hertelijk heeft beklaagt, is `ook daarbij soodanig christelijk en godtsalig overleeden, dat sulx selve den aanwesenden Papisten tot veele verwonderinge gestrekt heeft (Ecal 3017, 229).
