    De 92-jarige Wim Lengton heeft bij Jubal een mijlpaal bereikt. Gisteren was Lengton precies 80 jaar lid van de Dordtse club. In 1928 meldde hij zich aan als lid.

    Wim Lengton heeft in de na-oorlogse periode veel bijgedragen aan de wederopbouw van Jubal. Als voorzitter had hij het niet gemakkelijk, omdat elk dubbeltje moest worden omgedraaid voordat het werd uitgegeven. Hij maakte samen met zijn onafscheidelijke vriend Dick Jongeneel, die dirigent was van Jong-Jubal, veel furore met de tweejaarlijkse uitvoeringen (theatershows) in schouwburg Kunstmin. Samen hadden ze de regie, schreven teksten en waren zeer nadrukkelijk betrokken bij de voorbereidingen.

    Gelet op zijn vele verdiensten in de na-oorlogse periode is door de ledenvergadering bij zijn afscheid unaniem besloten Wim te benoemen tot ere-voorzitter.

    Lengton had wel veel moeite bij het in 1960 genomen besluit Jubal om te vormen tot een 'Amerikaans drum corps', waardoor het kenmerkende van Jubal als fluitclub tot het verleden behoorde.
