    zuiden, uitkomende achter Huize 'Arrier-end'

    De wijk ontleent de naam aan de kwekerij- of tuinbaas van de toenmalige
    kwekerij Moerheim, de heer J. Pol Gzn die aan de wijk woonde. Aan de wijk
    stonden rond het midden van de vorige eeuw de kalkovens van de Zwolse
    notaris mr I.A. van Royen. Aan de Hoofdvaart (Moerheimstraat) woonde van
    Royen's kalkbrander Reinier Dozy. In 1882 vestigde de vervener Bonne Berends Bzn zich in de woning, en nadat deze een aanzienlijke verbouwing aan het huis had gegeven noemde hij dit 'Arrier-end'. Berends brak de
    kalkovens af en bouwde in 1896 daar aan de wijk de turfstrooiselfabriek
    en balenloods, de N.V. 'Berendsveen'. Deze werden tijdens de eerste
    wereldoorlog afgebroken. Nadien maakten de villa en het omliggende terrein
    lange tijd deel uit van de Koninklijke Kwekerij Moerheim.

    Een open deel van de wijk is thans nog als 'waterpartij' aanwezig in de woonwijk Rozenheim.
