Rentz, Geraldine Mae

Services for Geraldine Mae Rentz, of Litchfield, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Plummer Funeral Home with Bro. Ed Diveley, pastor of Southside Church, officiating. Burial will be in Crabtree Cemetery in South Litchfield Township. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Plummer Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials be directed to the Montgomery West Chapter of the American Cancer Society or the Litchfield Volunteer Fire Department. Mrs. Rentz died at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 29, 1999, in St. Francis Hospital. She was 61 years old on November 18. She was a cook at McDonald's restaurant in Litchfield where she was affectionately called "Grandma" by fellow employees and regular patrons. She had worked with her husband, David, at Rentz Cleaners which was located where Family Eye Care is now. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Litchfield. She was born in Litchfield, a daughter of Wilbur and Frances Weir Rundle, and graduated from Litchfield High School in the class of 1955. She married James Greenwood in 1957; they divorced in 1979. On December 8, 1984, she married David C. Rentz. He survives. Surviving also are sons, Michael Greenwood and wife Shirley of Litchfield, Ronald Greenwood of St. Louis; daughters, Kelly Durston and husband Danny, Mary Wallace and husband David, all of Litchfield; step sons, Scott Rentz of Chicago, Craig Rentz of Litchfield; brothers, Terry Thompson of Florida, RayDean, Kevin, Gary and George Thompson, all of Litchfield, James Thompson of Hillsboro, Bill Bishop of Oregon; sisters, Donna Davis, BeaKay Meyer, Patty Dela Cruz, all of Litchfield, Arlene Claytor of Orange, Texas; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were brothers, Tommy and Marvin Rundle and Stanley Thompson. Servics for Geraldine Mae Rentz, of Litchfield, were held at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Plummer Funeral Home. Bro. Ed Diveley, pastor of Southside Church and Bishop James W. Gietler, with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, officiated. Burial was in Crabtree Cemetery in South Litchfield Township. Musical selections were "Amazing Grace," "In the Garden," "The Lord's Prayer" and the closing song, "Mama Liked the Roses" by Elvis Presley. Pallbearers were Jeff Davis Sr., Jeff Davis Jr., John Davis, Lee Jarman, Dean Meyer and Mike Wallace. Honorary pallbearers were Steve Greenwood, Gary Baker, Alvin Garst, Monte Govaia, Sgt. Guy Meyer, USAF, and Earl Nail. Following the services a meal was provided for family and friends in the hall of VFW Post 3912. Mrs. Rentz, 61, died Tuesday, June 29, in St. Francis Hospital.
