Notes about Joel OHMART

According to Dore M. Frantz's documents, Joel's gravestone lists his birthdate as 5 Jan 1818. In Vol. II of Early Clark County Families, p. 47, Jess W. Monteith lists Joel's birthdate as 3 Jan 1817. Page 50 of Lester Binnie's Cemetery Records of Paw Paw and Pleasant Townships, Wabash County, IN gives his tombstone inscription as simply 1817-1910. I have chosen the date of 1818 primarily because it is consistent with the recorded marriage date of his parents, and with his being born in OH (in 1817, his parents were still in VA.)
