Married: 8 MAY 1652 in Eggiwil, Bern, Switzerland

Title: Emigrants, Refugees and Prisoners.
Author: Richard Warren Davis

From Davis, p. 363:

"Daniel Stauffer, b. 1632, Luchsmatt, Eggiwil. He married Barbara Galli on 8 May 1652 at Eggiwil. She was the daughter of Ulrich Galli, the leader of the farmers revolt. Daniel and his family were exiled in 1671 and were living with his father in December 1671 at Dirmstein, Germany and on 1 January 1672 at Ibersheim, Germany with his pregnant wife. By 1682 he had moved to Gerolsheim, Germany. He was listed as a Mennonite inhabitant of Gerolsheim in 1685 and 1698."

=--------------------------------=
There is mention of a Daniel Stauffer from Thun, Switzerland and his son John from Alsheim on page 468 of the "Proceedings and Addresses, By Pennsylvania-German Society"; Published by The Society, 1897; Original from Harvard University.

This is available online at http://books.google.com. It's a bit puzzling, though, that our tree does not show that Daniel had a son John. (Frank J. Arrison 11/12/2008)

Michael James Arrison's gedcom file data showed Daniel's place of death as Arlsheim, Switzerland however I could find no such place in maps on the Internet. There is an Arlesheim but I'm more inclined to question the country. This is due to the above reference to Daniel's son John being from Alsheim near Worms, Germany. Thus I changed Daniel's country of death to Germany in this record. (Frank J. Arrison 11/12/2008)
Daniel and Barbara were exiled as Mennonites from Eggwil to Dirmstein, GER
in 1671. In 1682 they moved to Gerolsheim, GER.
