Was born with a hearing loss.

Walter lives with his sister Adeline De Young Prince since Adelines husband, Frank Prince, died in 1971. They live together on the farm where Walter was born in 1922.

Walter DeYoung, of McBain, went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, May 12, 2013, at the Belle Oaks Living Center in Lake City. He was 91 years of age. He was born on January 17, 1922, in Richland Township, Missaukee County, to Nick and Nellie (Ostindie) DeYoung.

He had been a farmer all his working years. He enjoyed bowling, gardening, and working around the farm on different projects. He enjoyed raising and milking his goats and always had a dog that traveled with him in his pickup truck. He was a member of the Lucas Christian Reformed Church.

His survived by sister-in-law, Josephine DeYoung of McBain, nieces and nephew, Lorraine (David) Rozeveld of Marion, Bob (Mary) DeYoung of Grand Rapids, Ron (Elaine) DeYoung of Hamilton, Eunice (John) Netz of McBain, Paul (Karla) DeYoung of Traverse City, Karl (Ruth) DeYoung of Grand Rapids, Jan (Jack) Wiebenga of Baldwin, Barb Murray of Rockford, Donna (Charles) Harkes of Grand Rapids, and Howard (Nancy) Prince of McBain.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Adeline (Frank) Prince, brothers, John DeYoung, Peter DeYoung during World War II, and Ed (Jeanette) DeYoung.

Funeral services will be held at the Lucas Christian Reformed Church on Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Steve VanNoort officiating. Burial will take place at the Mount View Cemetery in McBain. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Burkholder Family Funeral Home in McBain.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Lucas Christian Reformed Church or Northern Michigan Christian School in McBain

Funeral arrangements were made by the Burkholder Family Funeral Home, Keith D. Burkholder Director, 211 N. Pine St., McBain.
