Geschiedenis
De polder, ca. 50 ha land onder Exmorra en Schraard omvattende, werd in 1904 opgericht. Een bestaande windwatermolen (een spinnekopmolen, staande op het perceel kad. gemeente Tjerkwerd, sectie C nr. 259) werd voor 130,= (inclusief de ondergrond) overgenomen.

De bemaling van het poldergebied vond tot 1948 plaats door middel van de indertijd overgenomen spinnekopmolen. In dat jaar werd de molen afgebroken en vervangen door een dieselgemaal. In 1953 werd de dieselmotor vervangen door een elektromotor.
