Lifetime Lynden resident Adeline Stap, age 87, went home to her Lord and Savior surrounded by her loving family at the Christian Health Care Center on Saturday, March 15, 2014.

A daughter of John and Alice (DeJong) Stap, she was born on Aug. 23, 1926, in Lynden where she grew up and graduated from Ebenezer Christian School and Lynden High School. For 75 years Adeline was a baptized charter member of Third Christian Reformed Church, where she sang in the church choir and was librarian for many years. Prior to owning and operating the Lynden Book Shop, she was a linotype operator at the Lynden Tribune for 14 years. Adeline served as treasurer of the Lynden Burial Society for numerous years. She loved to travel, enjoying bookstore conventions, traveling with Tulip Tours and taking car trips with friends. Her favorite hobbies were reading and gardening.

Family members surviving Adeline are: Kay (Lloyd) Broersma, Jake (Jeannette) Stap, Joan (Ray) Stuit, Vonnie (Marsh) Zoerink, Lorraine (Dick) Katte and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; niece June Marlys Zoerink; nephew Mike Stuit; great-nieces Amanda Broersma and Alyssa Hansen; and great-nephew Mark Stap.

The family thanks the Christian Health Care Staff for their compassionate care and devotion to Adeline.
Graveside services will be conducted on Wednesday, March 19, at 1:15 p.m. in Monumenta Cemetery followed by a 2 p.m. memorial service in Third Christian Reformed Church, 514 Liberty St., Lynden.

Adelines family suggests memorials to: Ebenezer Christian School, 9390 Guide Meridian Rd.; or Christian Health Care Center, 855 Aaron Dr., both of Lynden, WA 98264.
