George G. Wolbert the son of George Geert Wolbert Jr. and Renske "Sarah" (Kuiken) Wolbert was born September 15, 1874 on the family farm near Cawker City, Kansas. After reaching manhood, George moved to New Douglas, Illinois with his sister Lida Wolbert and her husband Henry VanLeeuwen.

On January 22, 1909, George married Mrs. Minnie (Tuetken) Aebner daughter of Wilke Jansen Tuetken and Gretje Dirks (Adams) Tuetken/Martens at the county court house in Edwardsville, Illinois. Minnie's first husband Gottlieb Aebner had died tragically in 1908. Minnie and Gottlieb had one daughter Amelia Aebner, whom George Wolbert adopted into his new family with Minnie.

In addition to Amelia, from Minnie's first marriage, George Wolbert and Minnie had eight children and one son who died in infancy:
